The client was Lighthouse HVAC, a home services company in Edgewater, MD.
Challenge
Lighthouse was trying to grow their business in a competitive market where HVAC companies didn’t have the best reputation. Also, their former marketing agency had not been serving them well. Their website was outdated, not optimized for SEO, and had a very generic-sounding About page.
Solution
I partnered with an SEO and web design company to update and improve Lighthouse HVAC’s About page. Since a main challenge was to establish trust with customers, I led with the client’s founding story of why the owner, Ronnie Masgay, decided to start his own company. It’s a story that demonstrates Masgay’s honesty and ethical practices, which immediately establishes trust with readers.
I also tell the story of how the name “Lighthouse” was inspired by Masgay’s father, who was a waterman in Maryland. The watershed is a big part of the culture near the Chesapeake Bay, and locals connect watershed culture with honesty, reliability, safety—values Lighthouse also wanted to be aligned with.
By listing the main benefits of working with Lighthouse in bullet points, I made those easily skimmable so they can stand out to readers.
The tone is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and personable. By the time readers get to the end of the page, they feel like they know the company, trust the company, and are ready to take the next step.
